Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand – A World War II story of survival, resilience, and redemption.

                This is an amazingly true story.   

 

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – About a young girl in 1939 in Nazi Germany whose life is changed forever when she finds a book left by accident in the snow by her brothers graveside.  Unable to read her foster father helps her to read.  Soon she is stealing books from Nazi book-burnings, the mayor’s wife’s library and wherever there are books to be found.    But these are dangerous times.  When her foster family hides a Jew in their basement, he work is both opened up and closed down.
