If you are looking to create your own book club that is more than just a book club follow this 10 step how to guide.
1. Pick at least 10 women to start the group and add to it after that…that way you get to meet other women from different friendships
2. Assign each woman a month to host up front so she can plan for her month. Encourage each host to be creative and to let her personality shine through! Themed parties are very fun.
3. Let the host for the next month choose the book for the group to read
4. Structure what the book club is all about from the first meeting and keep that theme. (example: we read books that touch our hearts as women and find a woman’s or child’s plight inside each book. )
5. Choose books that promote a range of emotions so you can explore different experiences and share feelings during the conversation
6. First hour of the evening is a social time with food and drinks. Second hour of the evening is book discussion.
7. Diversity of Thought - We don't always agree or see eye to eye on how we feel about the books we read. That's what makes it even more interesting.
8. Allow every woman in the group to have their time to share and discuss the book without interruption
9. Choose something in the community for the book club to be involved in, women with a cause is a powerful thing!
10. Do not use the book club for monetary gain or business leads; this is a social time – not a business lead. Outside parties are very acceptable though!
